Anshuman Sinha, son of the celebrated singer Sharda Sinha, shared that her death on the first day of Chhath Puja is a sorrowful time for the family and all who loved her. Speaking to ANI, Anshuman said she will always be in people’s hearts. He added that her body will be taken to Patna for the final rites on Wednesday morning.
Bihar’s folk icon died on November 5. Sinha, 72, had been fighting multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer, since 2018. While talking about his mother’s death, Anshuman said, “This is a sad time for us. She was very close to all of us. It was in her aura and singing that captivated everyone and this is a shocker for all of them. I am sure her loved ones will be as sad as me. Her motherhood was visible in her songs as well as in her personality. She left us on the first day of Chhath Puja. She will always be there in the hearts of people.”
Adding, he also spoke about Sharda’s funeral and said, “We have decided that the last rites of my mother (Sharda Sinha) will take place at the same place where my father’s last rite was performed. Therefore, we will take her mortal remains to Patna tomorrow.”
Anshuman even shared a heartfelt note on her mother’s death on social media.
Meanwhile, Sinha’s last pre-recorded song, Dukhwa Mitayin Chhathi Maiya, was released on November 4, ahead of Chhath 2024.
Sharda Sinha, fondly known as ‘Bihar Kokila’, was a renowned Indian folk singer celebrated for her immense contributions to Bhojpuri, Maithili, and Magahi music.
